Bio
Dongzi Pan was born in Beijing, China, and went to boarding school since she was six years old. The distance between her and her family created an early interest in traditional monster/ghost stories for her. Most of her early prints and drawings were based on her imagination of fairy tales, legendary stories, and mythologies. In 2012, Dongzi Pan went to Indiana University Bloomington to study fine art. At that time, she was introduced to a traditional art-making method: printmaking. After a few intro-level classes, she decided to pursue a printmaking major and continued her career as an artist for the rest of her studying time. She is now an MFA print media candidate at Cranbrook Academy of Art, and will be graduating in May 2019. She is currently preparing her thesis work, which will also be focusing on her understanding of ghost and Chinese philosophy.
